Annika!

Photobucket

Hello Everyone!

Since last we visited, summer has come and almost gone. Wow.
It seems as if I have been stuck in fast forward.

But somehow in the midst of this whirlwind, a new little friend has emerged from the Doll Room.
Actually, she is a best friend of someone you all are very familar with.  Can you guess who?!
While working on her, it was inevitable that I would began pondering what it means to be a best friend.

I have decided it is a tragic thing to go through life without having one.
Or without being one.

*To have a best friend, you must be one*
That is the definition of Annika.

This child was gifted with a solid and secure childhood,
... she likes to keep her feet on the ground.

But keeping up with Mr. Nilsson and Pippi involves tree climbing...
even though Annika is really not fond of being out on a limb and up so high.

With lots of practice, though, she has grown to enjoy it.  (Sort of)

"Annika dresses like such a girly girl."
(Pippi quote)
Such is pink underpinnings, matching pink leggings,
clean white lace ankle socks with well fitted black sandles.

Even at her young age, Annika is a pensive soul.
She talks about half as much as her best friend, which is helpful
when your dearest friend does most the talking.

Of course...
Both girls love a good party.
Birthday party that is.
The right dress is a crucial ingredient for the success of any momentous celebration.

Annika does not have wings, but there's a good chance that these
big  blue polka dot sleeves might just catch a breeze
and carry her over the rainbow to Pippi's house.
And right into Sari's (Pippi's mom) heart!.

I am in love with this doll.

Thanks to my time spent with her this summer,
being a best friend is something I want to do better!

.

" A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping
and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away."
- Arabian Proverb

Thank you so much for visiting!  love, Rose

  9. Dear Rose, It has been so long since I have visited blogs, and to see sweet Annika here today is nothing but fate for us. You have been such a kind and good friend to me since we met just five short years ago, and your note last night made my heart smile, in knowing you care. Pippi has a beautiful little friend, your workmanship has not wavered, the magic is oh so present, and Annika is filled with love. She and her maker do know how to "be" a friend. XOXOX Christel

  10. Dearest Rose
Thank you so much for coming over to visit last evening.. I have missed you visits and am so very happy you enjoyed viewing my ktchen makeover. I thought I would never finish the cabinets, it was so much work, but worth it in the end.. I am pleased with the window and your encouraging words were like music to my heart.

No, my roses are out my front room window, off the porch... I do have a mallow bush outside the kitchen window with pretty lavender flowers that I enjoy watching the hummingbirds visit in the morning hours.

Bebe has been whispering in my ear, and will visit soon I hope.
Love to you and family my dear friend.
    Bless you,
    Penny

  14. Dear Rose, as the saying goes "Good things come in small packages." But with you, "Incrdible things come in small creations". Your ability to capture so many emotions, memories and wishes in what began as a chunk of clay is truly God given and a blessing to all of us with whom you share your gift. Thank you.
    Blessings, Suzanne & Andrew.

  17. Oh! I could just hug everyone of your sweet, adorable dolls! They are all so very precious.
Please pray for my oldest son who is thirty and has contracted West Nile from a mosquito bite and it has also induced viral meningitis on top of that. He is very, very ill, and antibiotics cannot help viral infections. He was in the hospital three days but not much helped him. He has been married five months, so this is not something that a newly wed couple should have to be going through.
Thank you, and I hope things are well for you.

  22. Hi Rose, Annika, looks dreamy! as all your work this is not the ecepcion! Their faces say it all! as you always say, the few times I have contacted or visited your blog, "God bless your hands" your genius and intellect! There are two people who are always on my mind, hoping someday to be able to buy one of your beautiful pieces. You are one. Hope is what keeps us going, and not when or how, but I always think I can hopefully buy one of your pieces! Hugs, Rose M
